AI in Marketing is Powerful Support, But You Still Need a Human
Posted on Jul 02, 2025We’ve all seen how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the marketing landscape. From content generation to customer insights, automation to analytics, it’s become clear that AI can support marketing in many ways. But whilst AI is a powerful tool, I believe it’s not a replacement for a human.
At Blue Orange Marketing, I help SMEs across the West Midlands take advantage of what AI can do, without losing the human touch that makes marketing truly effective.
What AI can and can’t do for your marketing
AI can be great at:
- speeding up research: tools like ChatGPT and SEO platforms can help generate ideas and content outlines quickly
- improving targeting: AI-driven platforms can analyse data to identify customer behaviours and segment audiences more effectively
- automating routine tasks: scheduling social media, sending emails, or generating reports can be done faster with AI tools
But here’s what I think AI can’t do as easily:
- understanding your brand story
- crafting campaigns based on emotional intelligence or real-world experience
- making judgement calls based on your market dynamics
- building genuine relationships with your audience
- adapting creatively when the unexpected happens
Why you still need a human marketer
Even the smartest AI needs clear input, direction and review. That’s where I come in. Working with you I:
- define your strategy – ensuring AI tools are used with purpose and aligned to your goals
- develop your voice – so your content sounds like you, not a machine
- keep you consistent – using AI to streamline where useful, whilst keeping quality and tone on-brand
- add context and creativity – the parts AI may not get (currently)
I also act as your marketing department and press office, making sure your marketing gets done, from planning through to execution – whether that includes AI tools or not.
AI can make marketing more efficient, but it doesn’t replace the need for strategic thinking, creative flair or professional judgment. If you’re wondering how to use AI to support your marketing without losing the human touch, I can help.
